our small group christmas party!

we started out as a group of 4 married couples.  one by one, we each got pregnant, and now we are 8 couples all with kids under 18 months!  getting together is a bit crazy with all the kids running around.  this is the chaos of our small group christmas party -- can you find beatrice?  :)

miraculously, all the kids (minus 2 who were away for the holiday) stayed put for this shot:

we are so blessed to experience the journey of parenthood with others!

happy (american) thanksgiving!

my grandmother is 79, my grandfather is 86.  to them, my parents are still too young to know any better.  so you can guess what they think about us grandkids!  but this turkey day, i was EXTREMELY surprised when my grandmother FINALLY consented to let me help with our thanksgiving meal of galbi, sushi, and korean-style fried chicken.

i learned how to make california rolls!  i also de-boned and de-skinned the chicken.  my grandmother was surprised.  she even admitted (grudgingly) that i was better than her at de-boninig and de-skinning chicken!  what has the world come to?!?

beatrice was tired from chasing the dog all day and went to bed early.  we trapped her in the exersaucer while we prepared the meal.  this is one of the world's greatest inventions.

doesn't everything look yummy?  i still can't believe my grandmother let me help make food.

we also went to our first sonics game on friday with ivan, amber & zach:

you know how couples start looking like each other after awhile?  i think that's happening to us.  i never thought we looked alike before.

beatrice is growing up!  in the mornings, we pick her up and her face looks different, her body seems longer and heavier -- she's growing like crazy.  overnight, she's growing into a little girl.  beatrice doesn't look like a baby anymore!!  oh, how sad, our little girl is growing up.  *sigh*

length:  50th percentile

head circumference:  90th percentile!!!!

my baby's got a big head.

we drove down to seattle (federal way) to celebrate beatrice's birthday at my grandparents' house.  yay!  she's one!!

we debated for awhile whether or not to let beatrice eat cake.  but we broke down in the end -- after all, you only turn 1 once!  after she blew out the candle (with daddy's help), she ate two mini cupcakes.  YUM!  of course beatrice loved every bite.  when paul tried to help her, she moved her arm away and would NOT let go of the smashed cupcake in her hand!

as you can tell, beatrice is very serious about dessert.  happy birthday beatrice!
